Rekha Doley,23, an artisan belonging to the Mishing tribe residing in Panbari village of Golaghat district in Assam pursued her education till 10+2 and is now a part-time weaver who weaves for 4 hours a day. During the rainy season, she gives weaving a break and concentrates in other household activities. She is married and has a child who is 2 years old. She has eleven family members. She started weaving at the age of 6. She learnt the skill of weaving from her mother and has four looms in her household. Rekha along with other three family members are in the weaving business. Apart from weaving, she is also responsible for the domestic work at home. She loves the hilly terrain of her village, however, according to her the quality of living in the village can be improved by improving the road structures and education system.
