Maina Loing,25, an artisan belonging to the Mishing tribe residing in Panbari village of Golaghat district in Assam pursued her education till the 10th standard and is now a full-time weaver who weaves for 4-5 hours a day. She is married and has two children who are 8 and 5 years respectively. She has eleven family members. She started weaving at the age of 12. She learnt the skill of weaving from her mother. She has two pairs of looms in her household. Maina along with other two family members are in the weaving business. Apart from weaving, She is also responsible for the agriculture and household work. She loves the scenic beauty of her village, however, according to her the quality of living in the village can be improved by the empowerment of women of the village.
