Monika Pathari,20,an artisan belonging to the Mishing tribe residing in Panbari village of Golaghat district in Assam pursued her education till the 10th standard and is now a full-time weaver who weaves for 4-5 hours a day. She does not weave during the rainy season. She is married and has no children. She has six family members. Monika started weaving at the age of 12. She learnt the skill of weaving from her mother. She has two looms in her household. She, along with another family member are in the weaving business. She loves the environment of her village and the unity of the people, however, according to her the quality of living in the village can be improved by good income generating programs.
