Lakshmi Loing,20, an artisan belonging to the Mishing tribe residing in Panbari village of Golaghat district in Assam pursued her education till the 8th standard and is now a full-time weaver who weaves for 3-4 hours a day. She does not weave during the rainy season and also during the cultivation period. She has seven family members. She started weaving at the age of 14. She has two looms in her household. She, along with another family member are in the weaving business. She loves the greenery of her village, however, according to her the quality of living in the village can be improved by having good income generating programs.
