Koneng Pathari,17, an artisan belonging to the Mishing who stays in Panbari village of Golaghat district in Assam pursued her education till the 5th standard and is now a full-time weaver who weaves for 4-5 hours a day. She concentrates on other household activities during the rainy season. She has five family members. She started weaving at the age of 13. She learnt the skill of weaving from her mother and has two looms in her household. Koneng along with another family member is in the weaving business. She loves the hilly terrain of her village, however, according to her the quality of living in the village can be improved by good income generating facilities.
